By Tomeu Bordoy

the hotel factory continues growing, not only in new and interesting projects, but also regarding its own team. We always have candidates who come to our company to do internships of their degree studies or university master thanks to the various university agreements that we have signed with universities throughout the Spanish territory as well as internationally.

Therefore, as we usually do, we have asked the people who are doing their internships with us to tell us something more about themselves, their studies and their experience with us.

Today we introduce you to Elena Hiere; student of the International Program, Master in Global Management at Kedge Business School and who has made his internship with us since last June.

THF: Tell us a little bit more about yourself. Where are you from? What are you studying?

I am from Bordeaux, in the South of France. I studied a degree in Business Administration in Bordeaux and had the chance to study part of it in Madrid. After graduating I decided to start a Master’s degree in Global Management. Now I am back in Madrid, for my final internship with the hotel factory.

THF: Why did you decide to study this?Elena2

I’ve always been very interested in Business and more precisely in the hotel industry, which led me to study business and specialise in the hotel sector thanks to various internships.

In my opinion, tourism is a fascinating industry because of its dynamism. Trends in clients’ preferences are changing all the time which means that tourism suppliers have to adapt continuously to these new trends.

THF: You’ve mentioned to us that you’re from Bordeaux. Compared to the city, what do you like most about Madrid? Any story you want to tell us about your stay here?

I love Bordeaux, but Madrid is a much more dynamic city. It represents the perfect mix between a city with a lot of things to do and a small city. One of the things that I like the most is probably going for a walk in La Latina neighbourhood. I really like its colourful buildings, small streets and restaurants and bars.

THF: How did you come to know about the hotel factory? What caught your attention?

In the internet. I was looking for a consulting firm specialized in the hotel sector in Madrid and that’s how I got to know the company.

What caught my attention was the modern presentation of the website and the employee section. Moreover, it is the only consulting company specialised in the hotel industry that I found in Spain through my research.

THF: What was your impression when you met us for the first time during the interview?

The interview confirmed what I was thinking of the company: a professional company counting on dynamic and very nice team. I realised that I was going to work in a really nice work environment.

THF: Now that you have seen first hand the kind of work that we do here, is it what you expected of a hotel consultant?

Indeed, it is very similar to the idea I had of a hotel consultant and I really like my functions here. I would love to keep working in the same field in the future.

THF: What do you like the most about this job?

What I like the most here is being able to work on different projects and hotels with different positioning strategies in various destinations. Diversity in my job is something really important for me.

THF: What type of projects have you worked on during your months with us? Do find them interesting?

Until now, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a re-positioning project of a hotel. It includes studying the market and the area in which is located the hotel as well as understanding its current position. With this information, and taking into account the requirements of the client, the best market segment and most adapted strategies can be selected for the hotel’s future success.

THF: What would you say to all the students who want to work as an intern? What reasons would you give for them to choose the factory hotel?

I would tell them that if they are interested in the hotel sector and they want to work for a growing company that offers a great diversity of projects, the hotel factory is a perfect option!
